Real Madrid lost 4-1 to Valencia yesterday, Sunday night, despite taking the lead at Mestalla in the first half. It was a rollercoaster game that left fans dazed and confused, while Zinedine Zidane was left experiencing similar emotions.
“It’s hard to understand what happened in this match,”
he said afterwards in what was a very brief post-match press conference. “Everything happened, with three (3) penalties and an own (1) goal. After our goal, the dynamic changed and we changed what we were doing. Everything came together today.”
There was an element of VAR in all four of the Valencia goals, but Zidane didn’t want to discuss the officiating.
“I don’t talk about the referees,” he said when asked.
Zidane was also asked if he felt he’d made tactical errors. He replied:
“I don’t think Valencia were tactically better, but I am the one to blame because I’m the one who needs to find solutions.”
Real Madrid played one of the most bizarre matches in recent memory on Sunday night. The main talking points from that loss to Valencia are discussed below as Lucas Vazquez is of the opinion that Real Madrid Head Coach, Zinedine Zidane has been using the same system of rotations for the last five years.
“I was running at speed,”
“The ball came out quickly and I didn’t have time to get my hand out of the way. I think it was a penalty and we just have to put up with it”.
“We came into the game on the back of several pretty good performances, in which we performed to our best and tonight’s was a tough game,”
