Lebron did you know Kobe and MJ would have taken that shot!?
However, LeBron James is consistent, you have to give him that.
Throughout the course of his 17-year career, he has always prided himself on making life easier for his teammates — finding them for open looks and setting them up for success on the offensive end.
This emphasis on creating for others doesn’t seem to really ever change, even when an important game is on the line.
Tonight, in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, with the game ticking away, LeBron made a pass to Danny Green at the top of the key instead of trying to score the ball himself. The play was botched and the Lakers lost the game in the end with fans now saying Kobe (of blessed memory) and Michael Jordan (retired) would have taken the shot.
Though James has been criticized up and down by the media, he has since stood by his decision, as she usually always does.
“I’ve always played the game the same way since I was a kid, and I’ve had success doing it. I won’t let a play here or a play there change my outlook on the game or how I play the game. If you just look at the play, I was able to draw two defenders below the free-throw line and find one of our shooters at the top of the key for a wide-open three. I trusted him, we trusted him, it just didn’t go. You live with that.”
LeBron has always had faith and trust in his teammates to make and convert on big plays down the stretch of games. The results have varied. This time, things didn’t work out so well, and it’s back to the drawing board for another crack at it on Sunday.
