Orji Uzor Kalu has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Justice Idris Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Lagos, sentenced Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, to 12 years imprisonment after declaring the former Abia state governor guilty of N7.1bn fraud charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Kalu and his co-defendants were declared guilty by Judge of the 39 counts filed against them by the EFCC.
Being escorted out of Court, the Senate Chief Whip was said to have previously begged the prison warders not to handcuff him in public.
“Where are you taking us to now? Please don’t handcuff me. I will follow you.” he said
