Maina bled from nostrils while on trial and Court stalls proceedings for his treatment

Former Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team (PRTM), Abdulrasheed Maina, on Thursday, November 21st stood proceedings at the Federal High Court, Abuja as he bled from his nostrils.

He began bleeding shortly after the court resumed his trial. The accused, who was sitting with families and officers of the Nigerian Correctional Services, was assisted up by two of the officers to be taken to the dock by his counsel, Francis Oronsaye.

However, Justice Okon Abang ordered that Maina should be left where he was. Soon, the judge’s attention was brought to the deteriorating health of the accused. “My Lord, my client is bleeding and I will seek your indulgence to allow him take his medication,” Oronsaye said.

Justice Abang granted the request and stepped down for 20 minutes. The bleeding stopped as prison officials and relatives attended to him.

He is charged with 12 counts bordering on money laundering, operating fictitious bank accounts and fraud levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Maina is listed as first respondent alongside a firm, Common Input Property and Investment Ltd, as second respondent.
