Thomas Ashwin who was a grade 7 pupil at Floreat Primary School, is reported to have died after falling off from a train.
He was said to have being returning from a trip to the beach with his friends on Saturday November 9 when the incident occurred.
He was standing on the train while hanging on the carriage door, the train which was just a few metre from Sternberg station in South Africa.
He was reported to have bled from the head, mouth and nose after fallen off the train. His twin brother and neighbour told Daily Voice that the deceased’s family is traumatized.
“He left the morning and they ended up in Kalk Bay,” Quanita Williams said.
“The kids like to swim and they go on the trains, provided they stay in a group. Ashwin’s twin, Ashton, was in the same carriage and got a skrik when he heard people screaming and also ran to see.
“He got off the train and saw his brother lying there and his friends crying. He is destroyed and we are very sad.”
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana also confirmed the incident. She further revealed that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
“A death inquest case was opened for investigation after a 15-year-old boy fell out of a moving train,” she said.
“The victim died on the scene due to his injuries. The incident happened at 3.30pm. Circumstances are under investigation.
